Successfully Overwintering your Favorite Patio Plants!

Early autumn i was contacted by someone from Sansi Tech, they sent me the SANSI 70W Daylight LED Grow Light for Indoor Plants in return for some honest feedback in my blog! The timing was perfect, the temperature outside was consistently dropping and it was time to bring my favorite patio plants inside for winter. This post will walk you through successfully overwintering your favorite patio plants! Click on the picture below to see this light on amazon!
The first thing i did before bringing in my plants was spray them to kill any pests.
This is important because after bringing in you plants these outdoor pests don’t have any natural predators inside your home and can quickly spread to other indoor plants. Take it from someone who learned the hard way! You do not want this to happen!
The bug spray i used is the Garden Safe 80422 Houseplant and Garden Insect Killer 24-Ounce Spray, it works great! I’ve experimented with some other sprays, including some natural homemade ones and have not had the same success so i have since decided to stick with what i know and have been able to manage pest issues fairly well using the spray linked below.
After giving my plants a nice soak and allowing them to dry outside it is time for me to bring them in!
Upon opening my new SANSI light i found out how unexpectedly BRIGHT it is! I mean holy crap! Although i was thrilled i also had to modify my plans a bit not knowing where in my home i could hang such a light.
Please note it is not so disruptive that it could not be hung up inside a home, i just personally already have maxed out the spaced i can fill with glowing plant lights with my other greenhouse cabinets and lamps. Oops!

Just look at how bright this light is! Also spoiler alert pictured above is the solution to my not knowing where to hang this light! I decided to buy a grow tent that traps the light inside. Although this isn’t the most attractive solution, it was the best option for the given application. I needed something that wasn’t overly expensive and that could be stored during the summer months when it is not in use. I got the VIVOSUN 48″x24″x60″ Mylar Hydroponic Grow Tent with Observation Window and Floor Tray for Indoor Plant Growing 2’x4′ and am absolutely thrilled with it!
Also again take note at how bright that SANSI light is! It’s amazing!
I was excited to move in all my plants to this tent and start testing out this light. I moved my lemon tree, lime tree and my coffee trees into the tent.
It has been a couple months since the move, although the plants showed some signs of stress at the beginning (which is to be expected) they are growing excellently! I am truly so impressed with how well they are doing, and am genuinely impressed with the SANSI light. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling with lighting with their indoor plants!
I hope this post helps you in successfully overwintering your favorite patio plants! Thank you so much for reading!
